About

This is the restoration of the archaeological site, from which we can see some of the fossils unearthed at that time. On a certain day in late spring and early summer in 1977, Professor Li ChuanKui, from the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, arrived at the Shuanggou area and discovered one piece of femur fossils from vertebrate paleontology. He brought them back to Beijing together with many other animal fossils collected. This piece, later confirmed, was an ape fossil from about half to one million years ago. The definition and identification of science is serious and rigorous, which permits no dishonesty. According to some experts, the most accurate basis for identifying the survival age of vertebrates is to find their teeth and skulls. In order to be sure of the ancient ape’s survival time, Professor Li Chuankui made a special trip from Beijing to Shunag’gou again. Hard work paid off and in a scorching morning he discovered three fossil molars of the ancient apes that turned out to be the tooth fossils from 18 million years ago. Later it was named Shuang gou Drunk Ape.
